AMIGO.inc is a registered non-profit charitable organization.
revenue generated by the sale of boats and other fundraising activities is reinvested in a historical farm property of 52 acres situated on the Gaspe coast of the province of Quebec 25 km from Campbellton, NB. The aim is to refurbish the buildings and acreage to be used as a retreat for persons with special needs.
Since 2002 the clients of AMIGO have participated in repainting all buildings and doing major repairs to a homestead originally inhabited by Scottish settlers in 1895. In the summer of 2006 various groups were able to rent the property, at a subsidized rate.
Our goal is to have the property fully functional year round and available to rent to the general public. The rental rate scale set for the public will enable AMIGO Inc. to redirect the profits generated towards the subsidy side of the equation.
The property is nestled in a pristine environment within a valley floor dominated by the Escuminac River. The river flows along the property boundary in its decent from the Appalachian mountain range flanking the Gaspe Coast. A brook on the property empties into the river which then continues another 3 km merging with the Restigouche estuary and then the Bay of Chaleurs approximately 10 km to the east.
